Compensation: New employees will generally be hired at the minimum Wage Range for the job description.

Holidays: Eleven holidays are observed by Eureka County full-time employees pursuant to NRS 236.015. Please reference Employee Personnel Manual Section 4.A.100 for listing of the holidays.

Probationary Period: Regular Eureka County employees will serve a six-month probationary period. (Sheriff's office staff and probation officers normally serve a one-year probationary period.)

Retirement Program: Eureka County is considered a public employer and employees in positions considered to be half-time or more are covered by the Public Employees Retirement System (PERS). Details are available in NRS Chapter 286. The County also allows employees to be enrolled into a Deferred Compensation plan. See Employee Manual Section 3.I. for additional information.

Insurance Benefits Program: Regular full-time and regular part-time employees are eligible to enroll in a Eureka County paid group medical and dental insurance plan. These employees are also covered by the County's paid term life insurance and accidental death and dismemberment insurance plan.

Eureka County also allows employees to voluntarily sign up for supplemental insurance. These plans include, but are not limited to:

  • AFLAC
  • New York Life
  • ING Deferred Compensation
  • ITT Hartford Life Insurance
  • UNUM


  • Specific information regarding Eureka County's monthly contribution, coverages and costs will be provided with the conditional offer of employment or upon request by the applicant.

    Effective date of all insurance coverages is dependent upon the employee's date of hire

    Payroll Deductions: Eureka County withholds the following mandatory deductions: FICA, Medicare FICA, Federal taxes and PERS (See Retirement Programs listed above).
