The Firewise Communities program offers a series of practical steps that individuals and communities can take to protect themselves and their property from risk of wildfire. The Firewise vision is that, through homeowner preparedness and community planning, wildfires can occur without catastrophic loss of lives, property, and natural resources.

Stop by Eureka's 10th Annual Firewise Education Day to learn about fire resistant plants, defensible space, being ember aware, landscaping materials, fire resistant building materials and our community evacuation plan.
Enjoy a free BBQ lunch, visit Smokey Bear, enter the FREE raffle drawing, take home FREE fire resistant plants grown by Eureka's FFA students, tour emergency vehicles while visiting with local volunteer fire men and women and BLM crews, NDF crews, and USFS crews. Check out the local 4-H Program Escape Room and the Ember House.

"Feel the BURN" - 5K Race - May 3, 2019 - Eureka Fairgrounds
Once again this year, the Eureka Firewise Committee along with the Dimaond Mountain FFA will be hosting the "Feel the BURN" 5K race that will happen right before the Firewise Event on May 3, 2019. The race is open to all ages and kids 10 and under race for FREE. We are still working out a few more details regarding the race, but would like to invite you to walk or run the 5K. Pre-registration for the race is available at the Eureka High School through April 30, 2019 and registration on race day will be available at the fairgrounds. All proceeds from the race got to the local Diamond Mountain FFA chapter. Awards for the race will be announce at 12:00 p.m. during the Firewise Event!
